Antonio Maria Jorda

Antonio Maria Jorda, 83, of Westminster, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at  his home in Westminster, MD. Born on February 19, 1933 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, he was the son of the late Innocente Jorda and Josefa Jorda. He was the husband of Digna Gomez Jorda.

Upon arrival to the United States in 1958 Antonio became a US Citizen and embraced the culture and life style of America.  He was employed at Cornell Chemical Company before starting Digna Manufacturing Company in 1965. He was an Engineer, Machinist and Pilot.  Antonio was passionate about spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed singing, hunting, target shooting and flying.  His lifelong passion was to design and build specialty guns. He loved to tell inappropriate jokes and make people laugh. He loved reading, poems and looking at pictures. He enjoyed nature and outdoor scenery.  But his favorite part of life was spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses:   Jose Jorda, Scott Jorda and wife Valerie, Lynn Selby and husband Michael.  Sisters, Juanita Gonzales, Elsa Jorda Acosta, and Hertrudes Jorda Acosta.  Grandchildren and spouses:   Elisa Wells and husband Ethan, Cassie Selby, Kristina Smith and husband JP, Trisha Aponte and husband Noel, Stephen Jorda and wife Michelle, Leah Beam and husband Eric.   Great-Grandchildren, Asher Wells, Shane Smith, Levi Smith, Kennady Smith, Marissa Jorda, Jamison Jorda, Jackson Jorda, Savannah Beam, Tony Beam. Long-time friend Romone Camejo.

He was predeceased by sister Marta Jorda Acosta and brother Jose’ Hererra.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2016  at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 254 East Main Street, Westminster, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Memorial service beginning at 8:00 P.M.

Inurnment will be Wednesday 1:00 P.M. at St. John Leisters Lutheran Church Cemetery.
