Arleda Ruth (Weishaar) Turfle

Arleda Ruth Turfle, 96, of Westminster, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Westminster.  Born March 7, 1920 in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Edna Romaine Gobright and Bernard Weishaar.  She was the wife of the late James A. Turfle also known as Texas Jim Turfle, who died on December 31, 1985.

She was a homemaker.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, VFW Post No. 467 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a charter member since 1944 and Women of the Moose Chapter No. 897.

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, James W. Turfle and wife Patricia and David L. Turfle, all of Westminster, a brother Francis Weishaar of Crewe, VA, grandchildren Jeffry Turfle and wife Susan of Westminster and Jena Rene Rinehart and husband Bryan of Taneytown, step-grandchildren Sheila Staley, Kenny and Beth Staley, Sharon and Jeff Gruel, Floyd, Lyn and Joe Staley, great-grandchildren Haley, Bradley and Brett Rinehart.

She was predeceased by a sister Jane Sipes and brother Corporal Frederick Weishaar who was killed in action on June 24, 1944.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.
