Catherine Rita Dodd

Catherine Rita Dodd, 98, of Westminster, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Lorien in Taneytown.  Born May 23, 1918 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Dora Yentener and James McCloskey.  She was the wife of the late Malcolm Carlton Dodd.

She was a homemaker and member of St. John Catholic Church Ladies Sodality, and former member of the New Windsor Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.  In her younger years she enjoyed camping with her husband and family.  She also enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Dodd and Darlene A. Childs and husband Edward, daughter-in-law Betty Ann Dodd, all of Westminster, a brother James McCloskey, a sister Eileen Smith, grandsons Michael Dodd and wife Tosha of New Oxford, PA and Kevin Dodd of Westminster, great-grandchildren Brittaney, Michael and Madison Dodd.

She was predeceased by a son Malcolm C. Dodd, Jr. and sister Dorothy Miller.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.  The rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. by the Ladies Sodality. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster.  Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
