Charles Henry Nevius, 87, of Westminster, died Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born August 14, 1929 in Elliottsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Carrie Emma Dum and Vincent Bailey Nevius. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Therese Nevius.
During the Korean War, he served in The Marines. Before retiring, he worked as a manager of the Heat Treat and Tool and Die Departments at Black and Decker in Hampstead. He was also a dairy farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coaching Pony League baseball in Manchester.
He was also a history buff, especially concerning the Civil War. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by children and spouses Mary Kay Nevius-Maurer and husband George of Westminster; Caroline Tibbetts and husband Bruce of Hanover, PA; Patricia Alexander of Lineboro; Charles L. Nevius and wife Judy of Westminster; and Teri Mae Nevius-Plona and husband Greg of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Richard V. Nevius and wife Martha of Westminster. Also, he is survived by 6 grandchildren: Erin Keefer, Tanya Kerr, Dera Fitzgerald, Amber Farran, Bailey Musiol and Carrie Ronayne, and 4 great-grandchildren: Mason, Aiden, Ryleigh and Caleb.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Elliottsburg Lutheran Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
