Dear Ms. Dorothy, Chuck, Suzanne, and Denise:
I extend my sympathy to all of you. I would be there to see all of you if I could, but unfortunately I will not be able to visit the funeral home. Want all of you to know that I am sorry.
Mr. Jerry, as I called him, was nice to me. Little things can mean a lot, particularly to children. At 55 years old, I remember a blazing hot, scorching day when Mr. Jerry invited me to get in the swimming pool with him to cool off. A delight for a kid, who had no swimming pool at the time, and who was sweating bullets.
I . . . think one of the things I remember most about Mr. Jerry is that he was nice to kids.
