Donald “Bo” Yingling, 80, of Finksburg, MD, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Born April 30, 1937 in Cockeysville, he was the son of the late Harvey P. and Helen L. Yingling. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lila Yingling.
Bo was retired from Dewberry/Davis Engineering/Beavin Company where he was a valued employee for 55 years.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and co-founder of the St. John’s Boys Basketball League where he was actively involved as a coach and administrator for 47 years. A scholarship was established in his and co-founder Larry Baker’s name in 1996 to benefit both boy and girl participants in the program for further education. Over $100,000 has been distributed from that scholarship over the 22 years. He also coached and was active with the Finksburg Little League for 12 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Julie Schissler of Pawley’s Island, SC; Andrew Yingling of Westminster; David Yingling and wife Jenny of Westminster; and Jeremy Yingling and wife Caroline of Charlotte, NC; sisters Marlene Uhler and husband Richard of Monkton and Joy Standiford of Cockeysville; and sister-in-law Phyllis Yingling of Towson. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons.
He was predeceased by brothers Vernon “Butch” Yingling and M. Jay Yingling, brother-in-law Paul Standiford and son-in-law Val A. Schissler.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. A Rosary will be said at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Fr. Brian Nolan as celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
