George Roderick Grosse, 80, of Westminster, died suddenly, on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his residence. Born October 29, 1937 in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Agnes Connors Grosse and Carroll V. Grosse. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen Magruder Grosse.
George worked in the commodities brokerage field for over 50 years. He retired from Wilkins Rogers, Inc., Ellicott City after a long successful career. He attended Montclair Academy Prep School and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 1959.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 5 children, Richard F. Grosse and wife Debra of Ashland, VA; Ronald Grosse and wife Dawna of Irmo, SC; Cynthia (Grosse) Ritter and husband Nicholas, Sr. of Fallston, MD; Michelle (Grosse) Rosata and husband Christopher of Ellicott City; Roderick G. Grosse of Berlin, MD; 2 step-sons Edward H. Ballow and wife Tracey of Ijamsville, MD; and David T. Ballow and wife Lisa of Elkridge; a sister Carol Small of Annapolis, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 step-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Christian Wake Services will be held at 6:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.
