James Elmer “Pop” Turnbaugh, Sr., 73, of Westminster, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at home.  Born June 22, 1943 in Owings Mills, he was the son of the late Rosie M. Diehl and Albert M. Turnbaugh, Sr.  He was the husband of Mary Virginia Kell Turnbaugh, whom he had been with for 50 years.

He retired from Asplundh and also worked for Precision Quality Built Homes and Sweetheart Cup Corp. He enjoyed hunting, guns and Western movies.

Besides his wife, he is survived by son James E. Turnbaugh of Taneytown and devoted friend Deborah Ruby and daughter Jane E. Turnbaugh Sentz of Littlestown, PA, a brother Albert M. Turnbaugh, Jr. of York, PA.  Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother John J. Turnbaugh and a sister Joyce Ann Terry.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. Please meet at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.
