Kenneth Martin Keeney

June 10, 1933 ~ August 23, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old


Kenneth Martin Keeney, 83, of Finksburg, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Dove House.  Born June 10, 1933 in Cedarhurst, he was the son of the late Stuart and Ethel Lorine Martin Keeney.  He was the husband of Mary Bess Keeney, his wife of 36 years.

He was a 1951 graduate of Westminster High School and member of Patapsco United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 as an Aviation Machinist during the Korean Conflict.

He worked in construction all his life. Over the years he worked for a number of companies including Property Construction Co. and Andrew Building Co.  He had his own business; Keeney Construction Co. where he built many custom homes. In his later years, he worked for the State of MD, first as an inspector and later as an area supervisor.

He enjoyed deer, elk and turkey hunting in MD, PA, NY and CO.

Surviving are sons Kenneth Steven Keeney and wife Cindy of New Windsor, Gregory Allan Keeney of Taneytown and Timothy Ray Keeney and wife Diane of Westminster, stepson and stepdaughter Robert Douglas Miller of Windsor, VA and Jane Elizabeth Miller-Cox and husband Chris of Colorado Springs, CO, brothers and sisters, Roger Keeney and wife Maggie of Princess Anne, MD, Barbara “Susie” Medairy of Pikesville, Walter Keeney and wife Betty of Millers, MD, Mary Ellison of FL, Ralph Keeney and wife Roxy of Milton, DE and Sandra Frantz and husband Bob of Westminster, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son Stanley W. Keeney in 2008.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
