Margaret B. French, 90, of Westminster, formerly of Baltimore, died on Monday, October 23, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Hampstead. Born June 1, 1927 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Byrnes, Sr. and Anne McCrea Byrnes. She was predeceased by her husband William F. French who died in 1969.
She was a nurse and graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1951, spent her entire career as a nurse and retired from the Healthcare Finance Administration. She was a graduate of The Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Maryland, member of St. John Catholic Church, and enjoyed her family and traveling.
She is survived by five children, Anne M. Mason and husband David of Mt. Airy, William E. French and wife Margaret of Mt. Airy, Rev. Thomas J. French, S.M. of St. Louis, Missouri, Michael P. French and wife Sally of Gaithersburg, Margaret M. Ratcliffe and husband Craig of Hampstead, sister-in-law Suzanne Byrnes of Oakton, Va., a niece Eva Brandt, a nephew Thomas Byrnes, 12 grandchildren; Kathleen, David, Michael, John, Billy, Danny, Katie, Elizabeth, Julie, Maggie, Maureen and Tommy and 5 great-grandchildren; Emma, Caroline, James, Kori and Molly. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas E. Byrnes, Jr.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., with a Christian Wake Service to be held at 8 pm., at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. Interment will be at Baltimore National Cemetery.
