Richard Shanklin, Sr.

Richard Shanklin, Sr., 82, of Finksburg, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Dove House.  Born September 15, 1933 in Baltimore, he was the son of Lynwood Shanklin and Clara Marie Shanklin.   He was the husband of the late Shellia J. “Bunny” Shanklin.

Before retiring he worked 55 years for the Grinding Company of America.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, watching his grandson play sports, yard work and  Hank Williams, Sr.  He loved his grandchildren Alexander, Nicole and Christina and all his friends he worked with whom he considered family.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Shanklin, Jr. and wife Sandy of Fallston, Gregory Shanklin and wife Valentina of Finksburg and Robert Shanklin of California, a sister Janice Boone and husband Van and brothers Gene Shanklin and Bob Shanklin and wife June, grandchildren Alexander, Nicole and Christina, mother-in-law Aileen Robinson, brother-in-law David Livingston and special niece and nephew Michael and Lisa Livingston.  Also survived by his faithful companion Precious and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services, 12 noon at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.   Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
