Robert John Chester, Esq., 83, of Westminster, passed away peacefully in his home on March 13, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.  Born March 21, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ira and Annetta Chester.  Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn nee Seigel.

He attended McDonough School in elementary grades, Loyola and Towson Catholic High School, but left before graduation to join the U.S. Marine Corp 1952-55. He served in the First Marine Division during Korean War where he was held as a POW and awarded the Purple Heart. After his service time, he obtained a GED and graduated from Loyola College, class of 59’ and the University of Baltimore School of Law, class of 64’. While in law school, he served as law clerk to Judges John Grayson Turnbull and John Rains in Baltimore County’s Circuit Court. Mr. Chester was a Supervisory Special Agent with the F.B.I. from 1965-1987 and served in Milwaukee, WI, Pittsburgh, PA, N.Y. City, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.  After retirement from the F.B.I. he established a criminal law practice in Gettysburg, PA, and was a member of Adams County Bar Association.*

In addition to his love of his family, faith, and the law, was his love of lacrosse and horses. He was instrumental in starting the Maryland Youth Lacrosse in Carroll County and coached for the North Carroll Rec Council for ten years. Bob especially enjoyed his children’s equestrian activities and all of their accomplishments. He was able to enjoy his love of horses while watching his granddaughter compete, and enjoyed watching all three of his grandchildren play lacrosse.  He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Westminster, where he served as a lector.
