William Marshall White, 85, of Westminster, died peacefully, Sunday, September 11, 2016. Born Oct. 13, 1930 in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Dicy Pender White and Marshall D. White. He was the loving husband of 53 years of the late Billie Jean White, who died August 17, 2016.
He received a B.S. in Science from The College of William and Mary and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, following a year serving as a lieutenant in the Air Force. After working several years as a mechanical engineer he worked at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, mainly in architectural engineering. He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church.
Following his retirement in 1996, he volunteered helping patients with AIDS/HIV, Carroll Hospital and Carroll Hospice. He also volunteered teaching Sunday School and in the soup kitchen at church.
He is survived by a daughter Marsha Butschky of Baldwin; a son Doug White of Westminster and grandchildren Andrea and Max Butschky.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157, with Pastor Shari McCourt officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster United Methodist Church at the above address. Refreshments for family and friends will follow after the service.
