Bernadette Helen Joy

Bernadette Helen Joy, 87, of Westminster, died Monday, April 8, 2024, at Carroll Hospital.  Born August 19, 1936 in Baltimore she was the daughter of the late Dominica (Kruczak) Rajewski and Ceslaw Rajewski.  She was the beloved wife of Donald V. Joy, Sr., her husband of 62 years.

She was a homemaker and 1953 graduate of St. Michael’s Business School.  Following her graduation she worked as a secretary at Ft. Holabird Army Base in Baltimore. Bernadette enjoyed spending time with her family, visits to Ocean City and Kent Island and listening to live music and going to festivals.  She was also an avid reader and loved to shop.

Besides her husband, she is survived by children Sandra Joy-Raines (Harold), Donald V. Joy, Jr. (Lisa), Cynthia Trout (Dan) and Melissa Dowd (Tom), grandchildren Calvin, Russell, Andrew, Austin and Finn, all of Westminster.

She was predeceased by siblings Stella Profili, Casmir Rajewski, Angie Golebieski and Stanley Rajewski.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster.  Interment will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:30 p.m.
