Arhontoula (Toula) Papafilippou

Archontoula (Toula) Papafilippou, 91, of Reisterstown, died on Friday, November 10, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer, at home with her loving family by her side. Born on January 8, 1926, in Agiasos, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Andreas and Sofia Georgantis. She was the loving wife of the late Evangelos Papafilippou.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eirini and Tom Antoniou, of Reisterstown, and grandchildren, Evelyn and Georgia Antoniou.

Her life was eventful. Toula had to leave her home village at the age of only 10 and moved to Athens. She was a hard-working young lady. She lived through WWII, the civil war in Greece, and dictatorship. She met the love of her life, Evangelos Papafilippou, in 1958 and got married in 1960. After having multiple miscarriages, they had their only child, Eirini, in 1968.

She was a remarkable woman who left the greatest impression to all who have met her. She is known for her kindness, dignity, generosity, courage, wit, devotion and nurturing nature of hers. True to her name, she was a real Lady.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with Carroll Hospice Chaplain Nancy Ginsberg officiating.
