Barry was an amazing person. He taught me so much and I will always fondly remember our time together in England, the trip to Germany, and all our many conversations. RIP, Barry, I'll miss you. X

Oh my gosh Karen and Randy. There is VERY rarely a day goes by that I do not think about Barry. As you know he was my very first boyfriend and for a very long time. He used to tell me “When you put your shoes on always put a sock and a sock, meaning left and right, then a shoe and a shoe. That way if ever there is a fire and you have to get out of your house quickly at least both feet will be covered with something”. So how can I not think about him every day. He taught me so many more things. How to make associations to remember things so I did well in school, how to drive in his 67 Corvette, etc. And those two simple things I still do today and I remember him so very much. He was so very special to me. I actually owned a 67 Corvette myself. I was able to show it to him and have a picture that he took of me in it. I always thought he would live to be 100 as he was so particular about things. He has always held a very special place in my heart and I have always loved him. Some things will never change. I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish you, Karen and Randy, great happiness and joy for the rest of your lives.

Barry was a very gifted musician even in Jr. High. He was in my brother, Mikes, class and they played music together with other boys in their class. He was incredible even then. Barry taught Mike and I to play tennis one summer and we all had a very close relationship...even way back then. When you all moved to Virginia we all missed him. So sorry to hear of his passing...a star was born and now is lost to us and making beautiful music above and beyond what we can hear. RIP Barry

I recently wrote Denny that when Barry passed one of the brightest musical stars in the sky had just gone dark. Barry's technical mastery of music and the lessons I learned from him stayed with me across the decades. His crowd-wowing performances in England, Thailand, and the US are memorable for all the right reasons. I am so grateful I reconnected with him and was able to relive those “wonder years” with the band. He will be missed terribly by the music world and especially by those of us who knew him.

Karen, I am sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He sure helped me as a late member of the Dimensions and I will always remember his kindness and knowledge of music. He was an interesting person and a 'hoot' to hang with. Rest in peace Barry.

My earliest brush with genius was with Barry May when we went down to his basement, he put on an LP of Boots Randolph's, played Yakety Sax, and then turned off the record player. Then he picked up his tenor sax and wailed it, playing the song exactly, in pitch, with expression. Just like that. I was amazed. And grateful.

RIP, Barry

Barry was my across the street neighbor, fellow band member and friend. I will miss our conversations, reminiscing about The Dimensions and a time when the world was not so dark. Rest In Peace, old friend.

Thanks for your kind words. He was so happy that he had gotten back in touch with you and Tommy. Nice that you all got back in touch before he got so sick.

Hi Mary,

This is Tom -- former drummer with Barry in The Dimensions. When I reconnected with Barry May he told me of Barry's passing. Your husband was such a great fellow and musician. I wish I had the chance to meet him once again. I knew him and his family well and combined with Barry May's passing, reinforces just how fragile our lives are. I just wanted to lt you know what a joy it was to count Barry S. as a friend all those years ago and that his is missed by me today. Hope you are well.

Best regards,

Tom

Thanks, Mary. That thought crossed my mind, too. This has been very difficult, as you well know. May we remember the good times.
