Charles E. Little, 87, of Westminster, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital. Born on March 22, 1930 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Lewis B. and Louise C. Little. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Edith Louise Kelbaugh Little and by his two sisters, Bonnie L. Pettijohn of Parkville, Maryland, and June Brenniesen of Perkasie, Pennsylvania.
Charles or “Charlie” to some, worked for the Finch family as a housekeeper, cook, caretaker and manny to the numerous Finch children: Bill, Brad, Dann, Chad, Ray and Kelly during their youth. Charles was a handyman who could fix anything, a necessity in the Finch household. He loved Elvis and Johnny Cash. He enjoyed going to Ocean City each year where he played skeeball on the boardwalk and ate “fried shrimps.” He could find any key that was lost or “mislaid” on the Finch property and hid all such treasures in a safe undisclosed place so they could not be lost again. He loved and cared for the family pets. Every Friday night he caught the movie of the week at the old Carroll Theater. He walked to church each Sunday morning and after service would walk to the Westminster playground to see the children at play. He was a loyal listener to WTTR radio and personally reported every weather forecast (or change thereof) to all members of the household. For the last 23 years of his life, he was enjoying his “retirement” with his best friend, faithful companion and bride, Edith. Charlie and Edith were inseparable. He enjoyed good health his entire life and only entered a hospital on two occasions in his 87 years - the day he was born and the end time when he passed away. Somewhere along the way Charlie developed a faith in Jesus as his Savior and we trust that he is with Jesus now.
A private memorial and remembrance gathering will be held in his honor.
