July 11, 1944 ~ March 2, 2018 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Clara Simpson Obituary

Clara Rose Jahner Simpson, 73, of Westminster, formally of Bismarck, North Dakota, died on Friday, March 2, 2018 with her loving family by her side, at the University Of Maryland Medical Center.  Born on July 11, 1944 in Bismarck, ND, she was the daughter of the late Adam Jahner and Rosina Noel Jahner.  She was the wife of the late Percy Lawrence “Larry” Simpson, Jr.

Before retiring she worked for the Department of Defense for 47 years, 31 of which was with the United States Marine Corps. She retired as the Head of the Manpower Management Support Branch (MMSB-20) on December 31, 2011.  She enjoyed duckpin bowling and was a member of the Virginia Ladies All Star Duckpin Tour and St. John Catholic Church.  She loved spending time with family and friends, but most of all, loved being with her grandson and attending his sporting activities.  She adored her daughter and their time spent together.

She is survived by her children and grandson Lauree M. Schreiber, Trevor E. Schreiber both of Westminster; Penny S. Rader and husband David and their children Annalee C. & Daniel L. Rader all of Fincastle, VA, Gregory F. Simpson of Danville, VA; brother Steve J. Jahner and wife Patricia of Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law Carolyn F. Hawker and husband Ryland of Danville, VA and Melanie K. Cockram and husband Danny of Danville, VA. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a good friend of 50 plus years, Betty J. Henderson of Westminster.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 9 brothers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
