Gulendya Hughes Ford, 95, of Westminster, died Tuesday morning, September 4, 2018 at the Westminster Healthcare Center. Born on November 7, 1922 in Patapsco, she was the daughter of the late Garland Green, and Naomi Knight Green. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Wilson Hughes in June of 1959.
Before retiring, Gulendya worked for Rowan Controller. She enjoyed storytelling and family history, and was a longtime member of Patapsco United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughter Shelbe Stambaugh (Larry) of Keysville, daughter-in-law Susan Stum Hughes of Westminster, sisters Clara Dell of Manchester, and Connie Bowers (Sonny) of Littlestown, Pa., grandchildren Daniel Baugher, Jr. (LouAnn), Scott Baugher and companion Robin, Paul Baugher (Connie), Teri Hughes, Heather Baugher, Laura Howard and Fiance Michael Soliday, Rob Hughes, Denny Stambaugh, Shari Norris, and Lisa Zepp. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son Paul “Gary” Hughes, and 3 siblings Douglas Green, Filmore Green, and Regina Hale.
Services will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, Md. 21157, with Pastor William Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Patapsco United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11.
