Howard Raymond Evans, 91, of Finksburg, died on Friday, September 1, 2017, at University of Maryland Medical Center. Born June 23, 1926 in Patapsco, he was the son of the late David Coover Evans and Emma Blanche Spencer Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Eleanor K. Evans.
He served in the Army during WWII. He was awarded a Bronze Star. Before retiring, he worked at Congoleum for 40 years as a foreman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a volunteer at the Baltimore Rescue mission. Howard was a man of strong faith who loved God with all his heart.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Raymond Eugene Evans, Sr. and wife Ginny of Winchester, VA and daughter Harriet Marie Kopchick and husband Patrick of Clarksburg, PA, grandchildren Ray Evans Jr. and wife Ashley, Kelly Halbert and husband Chris, Matthew Kopchick, Joshua Kopchick and wife Rachael, Benjamin Kopchick and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Garrison and husband Kyle, Thomas Halbert, Anna Grace Evans and Zachary Evans and two great-great grandchildren Hunter and Alaina Garrison.
He was predeceased by brothers David Eugene Evans, Sr., Charles H. Evans, Earl R. Evans and Lester George Evans.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Grant Lauterbach officiating. Interment will be at Carrollton Church of God Cemetery.
