Jerald Solley Obituary

Jerald Donham Solley, 89, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2018 at Integrace Copper Ridge. Jerry was born on November 9, 1928 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Charles M. and Lola D. Solley. Jerry was predeceased in death by his parents, his older brother Charles, and his wife Beverly of 66 years.

Jerry served in the U.S. Navy on a subtender in the Pacific for two years prior to attending college in Ruston, Louisiana. After graduating Louisiana Tech with a B.S. in electrical engineering in the morning; he married Beverly Dark Solley the same evening! The couple then moved to Baltimore, Maryland where they resided for more than 65 years.

Jerry worked many years for Westinghouse in the aerospace division, then the CGR Medical in quality control, and then finished his career again with Westinghouse and retirement.

Jerry loved fixing things around the house and working in the yard. However Jerry’s truest passion was in working for the Lord through the local church. Jerry filled the position of Sunday school teacher and Sunday school director for many years at Catonsville Baptist Church. He taught many lessons by example as a tireless servant and faithful witness. He was on the organizing committee for Bethel Baptist Church in Ellicott City and also spent many years as a member of Temple Baptist Church. It was Jerry’s deepest desire to see people put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and follow him.

Jerry is survived by his two daughters and their families; Lisa and Rob Moor of Blountville, Tennessee; and Becky and Jim Crouse of Westminster, Maryland. Grandsons include Tim Moor (Vanessa), Brian Crouse (Jessica), and Ryan Moor (Amanda). His four great-grandchildren include Gunner Moor, Colton Moor, Keiran Moor, and Kaylin Crouse. He is also survived by his younger brother James L. Solley of Monroe, Louisiana.

The family will receive friends at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services in Westminster, from 1-2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Moor officiating.
