Luther Edward Sterner

Luther Edward Sterner, 89, of Westminster, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Long View Healthcare Center.  Born on March 29, 1928 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Paul Stewart Sterner and Mary Wentz Sterner.  He was the husband of the late Joyce Wolbert Sterner who died on July 11, 2016.

Before retiring, he worked for Mathias Farms in New Windsor.  He enjoyed gardening, wood working, restoring furniture and the Iris Club.

He is survived by 2 children, Jeffrey Sterner and wife Robin of Westminster, Joyce Garver and husband Charlie of Littlestown, PA,  2 brothers, Earl Sterner and wife Frances of Westminster and Eugene Sterner of Westminster, a  sister, Marie Lucabaugh and husband Donald of Hanover, PA, 4 grandchildren, Christopher Sterner, Holly Lewis, Terrie Light, and Kari Ann Garver,  6 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Mason, Brandon, Keegan, Marina and Gabrielle.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul S. Sterner, who died on February 1, 2017 and siblings, Guy Sterner, Lawrence Sterner, and Gladys Muller.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10AM, at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784, with Rev. Anne C. Durboraw officiating.

Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church, 701 Green Valley Road, New Windsor, MD  21776.
