Max Robert Buettner

Max Robert Buettner, 82, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Westminster, died Tuesday January 30, 2018 at his home.  Born on July 28, 1935 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Max M. Buettner and Roslyn Comer Buettner.  His loving wife of 62 years, Sheila Marie Buettner died on November 20, 2017.

He followed in his father’s footsteps and obtained a job with his father on the B & O Railroad.  From there he joined the Pennsylvania Railroad as a Trackman and Conductor.  He then went on to work for Amtrak as a passenger conductor from which he retired in 1997.

Survived by 5 children, Max R. Buettner, Jr. and wife Margo of Crisfield, MD; Jewell M. Buettner of Sarasota, FL; Teresa Romanowski and husband Brian of Perry Hall, MD; Angela Potts of Westminster, MD; and Sheila Bryant of Alpharetta, GA; 7 grandchildren; Joshua Kochner, Brianne Sims, Kelsey Buettner, Alexander Potts, Jake, Catherine and Claire Bryant, a great-granddaughter; Alyanna Sims.  Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson Nelson Leroy Sims III, sisters Dolores Robinson and Ruth Houck.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating.  Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
