Otto Paul Kunert, 81, of Westminster, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Sinai Hospital. Born June 9, 1936 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Marie (Buhl) Kunert and Otto Kunert. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Sylvia A. Kunert.
Before retiring he worked as an insurance agent for Kunert Associates. He served in the Army and was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, family vacations, traveling, sports and watching the Ravens and Orioles. One of his biggest rewards was coaching young men in baseball as well as coaching girls’ softball.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ellen Kunert of Hampstead; a daughter Kimberly Sew of Finksburg; sisters and brothers-in-law Susan and William Read of Sykesville and Patricia and John Frizzera of Eldersburg; grandchildren Brandon and Madison Kunert and Kristen and Derek Sew, nieces Chere Fidler, Vickie Anderson, Tracey Stansbury, nephews James Frizzera, Mark Frizzera, Kristian Kunert and Bradley Read.
He was predeceased by sisters Dolores Caraker-Day and Kathy Lord and a brother James Kunert.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
