Robert "Bob" Haugh Obituary

Robert “Bob” Thomas Haugh, age 89, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his children.

Mr. Haugh is preceded in death by his daughter Susan DorothyTrapnell, his brother John “Jack” F. Haugh, nephew John “Jackie”Haugh, Jr. and wife Janet. He is survived by his children:  Gregory John (Diane), Jeffrey Thomas (Linda), Barry Francis (Margarita), Eileen Marie Long (Bruce) and Evelyn AnnDingess (Jack)as well as his first wife Pollyann (mother of his six children).  He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, Nicholas, Amanda, Justin, Brandon, Tiffany, Kyle, Lydia, Michael G., Jonathan, Connor, Michael A., Bryn, Mariana, Sarah, and Corrie. In addition, he is survived by six great-grandchildren,Madelyn, Olivia, Savannah, Emery, Lainey, and Adelyn as well astwo nieces Donna and Lori, his nephew Larry and son-in-law Benjamin Trapnell.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 25, 1929, the first son of John Francis Haugh and Domicelle Dorothy Shatt. At the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for over 20 years and retired as Command Sergeant Major. While serving his country he worked in military intelligence as a research analyst applying his exceptional linguistic skills (fluent in 7 languages) and travelled worldwide. Robert was a highly decorated war combat veteran who served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from active duty, he continued working with the Federal Government as a civil servant.

His education included a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park and advanced studies in the Russian Language at Columbia University. He was a proud yet humble man with strong convictions who will be remembered as a highly intelligent, hard-working, loyal, artistic and creative individual.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at 2055 Carousel Drive, Westminster, MD 21157.  Family and friends are welcome.
