Ruth E. Shipley, 93, of Westminster, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Dove House. Born October 2, 1925 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Saylor) Poole and Edward Poole. She was the loving wife of the late Herbert R. Shipley who died Oct. 21, 2015.
She was a homemaker and volunteer for many organizations. She was a lifelong and active member of Deer Park United Methodist Church, supporter of the Carroll County 4-H Fair, volunteer for the Carroll County Association for Family and Community Education (FCE), board member of Life Enrichment of Carroll County and member of United Methodist Women.
She is survived by children Barbara S. Cober of Ellicott City; Raymond E. Shipley and wife Brenda K. of Westminster and Joyce E. Sanders and husband Jeff of Waynesboro, PA; sisters Doris Leppo of Smallwood and Janet Lang of Westminster; and brother Richard Poole and wife Grace of Taneytown. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a grandson Scott Shipley, sister Virginia Bailey, 2 brothers and son-in-law Donald Cober.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster and at the church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Rd., Westminster, with her Pastor, Rev. John Dean officiating. Interment in Deer Park Cemetery.
