Alice “Arlene” Shaffer, 84, of Westminster, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born February 12, 1937 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Helen Eyler McGraw and Charles H. McGraw. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold L. Shaffer.
Before retiring she worked at Country Care Assisted Living as an aide. She also ran a daycare and worked many years at Borenstein’s Sewing Factory.
She is survived by daughter Gail Martin of Westminster; son Jeffrey Shaffer and wife Linda of Taneytown; son-in-law Pat Martin and sister Marie Whitcomb. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Edna Claybaugh, Betty Tawney, Viola McDonald, and brothers William “Bill” McGraw and Jimmy McGraw.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Keysville Cemetery.
