Obituary

Arthur Eugene Miller, Sr. (Gene, Pop-Pop), age 79 of Westminster, Maryland passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after a 2-year battle with Melanoma.

Born February 22, 1941 in Hanover, PA.  He was the son of the late William Arthur and Helen E. Miller of Taneytown.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn S. Miller of Westminster.

Gene grew up on a dairy farm and then later became a Road Construction Superintendent for Kibler Construction in Finksburg.  After leaving Kibler Construction, he started Miller Lawn Service with his son.  After that he began working for Schuster Concrete in Owings Mills, MD where he worked until his retirement in 2013. Gene was not one to sit around, so then he began working for Westminster Lawn Service part-time hauling mulch and topsoil and doing snow removal in the winter, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing until this past August.

Gene was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan, and a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing, kayaking and deer hunting, especially with a bow.  He has many trophies and deer heads on the wall to show for his marksmanship. Gene also enjoyed teaching many generations of his family to hunt.  Teaching them all that they know, but not all that he knew.  Gene was also a past member and President of Pipe Creek Bowhunters Association in Taneytown.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.

Besides his wife, he is survived by son, Arthur E. Miller, Jr (Skip) and wife, Phyllis of Hanover, PA.  Daughter, Patti Brant and fiancé William (Buck) Wike of Westminster and daughter Annie Fetterhoff and husband David of Westminster.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Brady Miller and wife Ellen, Duane G. Brant, Jr (DJ) and wife Alicia, Dylan Brant, Brenton Miller and wife Jessica, Emma Fetterhoff and Caleb Fetterhoff. Also, three great-grandchildren, Caden, Brylee and Brynleigh Miller.

Survived by a brother, Robert B. and wife Jeannie Miller of Westminster and sister Doris and husband James Buffington of New Windsor, sister-in-law Genevieve Miller of Taneytown.  And numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Wm. Larry Miller of Taneytown.
