Barbara Dolores Wardenfelt

Barbara Dolores Wardenfelt, 88, of Westminster, died Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Golden Crest Assisted Living.  Born January 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Rill and Robert Ralph Rill.  She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Paul Dean Wardenfelt who passed away in 2009. 

As a lifelong resident of Carroll County, MD Dolores was a graduate of Westminster High School, Class of 1953 and a member of Westminster United Methodist Church.  Dolores was a waitress for many years at Benny’s Kitchen in Westminster and retired as a dispatcher for the Carroll County Maintenance Dept.

She had many hobbies including working in her yard, crocheting, traveling and cruises.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her family.  She was an avid shutterbug and put together many photo albums and scrapbooks remembering the times of her life, family and friends.  She loved taking walks with her beloved dog Buddy.

She is survived by daughters Gail L. Durham and husband Thomas Bond of Maryland; Robin S. Wardenfelt and fiancé Gerald Amass of Maryland; son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey B. and Diane Wardenfelt of North Carolina and brother Robert Rill of Maryland.  Dolores was a loving “Nanny” to her grandchildren, Kelly Rodgers and husband Jake of North Carolina; Michelle R. Durham of Maryland; Sarah O’Shea and husband Michael of South Carolina; Robert Durham and wife Melissa of Maryland; Ryan S. Wardenfelt of Maryland and god-daughter Molly McManus of Maryland.  Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother Larry Eugene Rill and grandson Christopher Paul Blizzard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery.
