Betty Ann Dodd, 83, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Columbia Cottage in Hanover, PA, surrounded by close family. Born October 13, 1942 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Bieker) Close and Ralph Close. She was the beloved wife of the late Malcolm Carlton Dodd, Jr.
Before her retirement, she was employed by the City of Westminster as a laboratory technician for the Department of Public Works. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Her family was the center of her life and her greatest source of happiness. During the years she and Carlton devoted to raising their children, she especially cherished their annual family trips to Nags Head, NC. She also enjoyed time on the water boating, as well as the quiet comforts of reading and completing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by sons Michael C. Dodd (Tosha) and Kevin W. Dodd, grandchildren Brittaney Colebank (Nathan), Michael Dodd, Jr. and Madison Dodd, great-grandson Porter Colebank, siblings Kathleen Baumgardner and Marie Close, God-daughter Marleen Baumgardner, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Darlene and Ed Childs, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her infant brother Levine Close, her sister Dorothy Gross, her brother Ralph Close, Jr, her mother-in-law Catherine Dodd, and her sister-in-law Patricia Dodd.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Prayer services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Uniontown.
