Billy Eugene Groft, Sr.

Billy Eugene Groft, Sr., 85, of New Windsor, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Dove House. Born April 10, 1938 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Clayton Levine Groft and Alice May Ebaugh Groft.

Before retiring he worked at Black & Decker. He was an avid NASCAR Fan and his favorite driver was Kyle Larson. He enjoyed going to his kids and grandkids sporting events, Lincoln Speedway to watch dirt track racing and spent spare time watching old westerns, Fox News and Donald Trump.

He is survived by his children Ronnie E. Groft (Robin), Teresa Walkling, Billy Groft, Jr., Karen Edmondson, Ricky Groft and Brian Groft; siblings Marie Arlene Will and Shirley May Lafferty (Donald); grandchildren Richie, Todd, Amanda, Brad, Stephanie, Jen, Michael, Jonathon, Tommy, and Ricky, Jr.; 20 great-grandchildren, lifelong best friends Melvin and Penny Zepp as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. He is predeceased by siblings Doris Bynaker, Donald and George Groft; sister-in-law Sue Groft, brothers-in-law Calvin Bynaker, Edward Will and sons-in-law Robert Edmondson and Charlie Walkling.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 12 -1 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Ronnie Zepp officiating. A special thanks to Ronnie Zepp for conducting Billy’s service.
