Carole M Fleming Obituary
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we’re sharing that Carole M. Fleming, of Carroll County, MD, passed away suddenly yet peacefully on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Fleming, and siblings Bradley Roman, James Roman and Jodi Talwar.
Carole is survived by her loving children, Marie-Elena Barry and Theresa (Edward) Balter; grandchildren Kyle Kershner, Bailey (Vince) Elliott, Brandon Balter, Dara Balter, Sean Barry; great-grandchild Isobel Elliott; brother, Douglas Danner; devoted friend and caregiver, Kimberly Hodge, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carole lived a full and vibrant life, on her own terms, who had a passion for people, was an avid reader; enjoyed cooking, music, art, cats, the outdoors, the beach, and Christmas was a magical time for her. She taught us the importance of embracing life with enthusiasm, appreciating the simple pleasures, and finding joy in the company of others. Theresa and Marie have a deep appreciation of Carole’s hard and diligent efforts and work ethic to successfully raise them as a single mother. Throughout the years, they lived in Baltimore City, Howard and Baltimore Counties.
She had varied and interesting careers with Modeling Agencies, The Baltimore Sun, the MD State Police, MD State’s Attorney’s Office, and spent the prime of her career as an Executive Assistant for a large advertising agency. Her parents were Edwin Mettee and Doris Volkert, and after being remarried, Doris and Ben Roman raised she and her siblings in Baltimore County. Carole had deeply loved her first husband, Charles Jacobs, and her last, Raymond Fleming, with whom she married in 2002 and who passed in 2019.
It was only in these last number of years that her health started to decline. She was cared for, was able to remain in her own home, and knew she was deeply loved.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and warmth - a reminder to all of us to live fully and to love deeply. Carole requested to not have a funeral, so we’ll celebrate her life and honor her memory in our own way. She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts always.
Carole lived by Henry David Thoreau’s quote: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve always imagined”.
