It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Coleen Eddins Whitefield, age 62, of Frederick, Maryland, on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Ballenger Creek in Frederick, following a long and courageous battle with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Born on September 7, 1963, in Silver Spring, Maryland, at Holy Cross Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Harold Eddins and the late Lorraine (Greenan) Eddins. She was the beloved sister of John Eddins, Laurie Brandt, James Eddins, and Michele Tester.

Coleen was raised in Rockville, Maryland, and graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in 1981. She went on to build a successful career spanning more than 20 years with BF Saul Insurance, where she served as Personal Lines Manager and was respected for her dedication and professionalism.

Coleen’s favorite place was the beach, where she spent countless weekends and summers. She made so many wonderful memories at the beach with friends and family. Even after travel became impossible, those moments remained close to her heart. Coleen enjoyed reading, boating, camping, and, in her own way, found great satisfaction in keeping things clean and tidy at home. Above all, she loved being surrounded by people. She had a gift for bringing energy and joy to any gathering and was, without question, the life of the party. Coleen especially adored the Christmas season. From Christmas decorating to her annual tradition of beginning Christmas movies on December 1, Coleen embraced the holidays with enthusiasm and heart.

With limited—and later no—mobility, Coleen never complained about her condition or how much pain she was in. She always stayed stoic and bore her burden with quiet dignity. Her never-ending resilience and fortitude left a lasting impression on those close to her who witnessed her arduous battle against the disease.

Coleen is survived by her siblings, Laurie Brandt, Michele Tester (Mike), John Eddins (Cindy), and James Eddins, along with many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Lorraine Eddins, and her brother-in-law, Jerry Brandt.
