Darrell Edward Zepp, 72, of Westminster, Maryland passed away at his home surrounded by family on February 24, 2026.


He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Edward S. Zepp and Margaret T. Risso.


He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Elizabeth J. Zepp; daughter Margaret I. Z. Carnegie and son-in-law Zachary A. Carnegie; daughter Dani E. Tart and son-in-law Stephen D. Tart II; step-son Adam Griggs and his wife Katie Bain; step-daughter Meghan Bailey and her husband Ryan Bailey; step-son Patrick Griggs and his fiancé Taylor O’Brien; sister Cindy J. Miller and brother-in-law Jim Miller; nephew, James D. Edie, and nine step-grandchildren.  Darrell was preceded in death by his son, Garry “Gus” Walthall Jr.; mother, Margaret T. Risso; father, Edward S. Zepp; and brother, Edward C. Zepp.


Darrell was an experienced electrician—holding a Master’s Electrician License for nearly 50 years.  He founded two businesses: Tilden Electric and Avondale Electric. He was a member and officer of the Electrical Contractors Association of Carroll County for over 40 years, and an Instructor for the Electrical Apprenticeship Program at Carroll Community College for 15 years. He was an avid fisherman—spending many sunny days on his boat in Liberty Reservoir and the Carroll County Farm Museum Pond.  He enjoyed playing board games, listening to music and whistling to the tune, watching movies, painting, and spending time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend to many, with deep ties to the Westminster community.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 833 Deer Park Rd., Westminster.   Friends and family can begin visitation at 10 a.m.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darrell’s name to the Electrical Contractors Association of Carroll County, Inc., to support their annual Achievement Award to a graduating electrical student from the Carroll County Career & Technology Center.  Checks should be made payable to ECACC, c/o Wayne Baker, 4300 Harney Road, Taneytown, MD 21787.
