David Otha Brown

David Otha “Junny” Brown, age 86, passed away on July 27, 2022 at Copper Ridge Nursing Home in Sykesville, MD.  Born March 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Otha Brown and Ruth Berwager Brown, the step son of the late Nelson Kaltrider and grandson of the late Torrie and Catherine Berwager. 

Before retiring, he worked at Schaffer Lumber Company, Pleasant Valley Shoe Company and retired from Congoleum after working 34 years.

He was a racing enthusiast and loved NASCAR.  He raced at Lincoln Speedway back in the 1960’s.  He also loved Western movies.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Elaine, daughter Dorothy “Dottie” Calp of Hampstead, son David Otha Brown Jr. and wife Patti of Westminster, half sister Shirley Mellema of Westminster, grandchildren Christina Conaway Tucker (Chris), Michelle Conaway Hayden (Darrin), Clif Keller and Brittany Keller Wojnowski (Zach) and great grandchildren Cassidy Wojnowski, Morgan, Olivia, Brady, Colin, Erin and Evan Tucker, Cole, Jake and Carter Hayden.

Predeceased by 6 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.  Also predeceased by one great grandson Parker Tucker and son-in-law Dave Calp.

Family will receive friends on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, MD from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  Funeral Services will be begin at 1:30 PM with Rev. Sam Chamelin officiating.

Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Run.
