Donald Earl Bacastow Obituary

Donald “Don” Bacastow, age 85, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 22, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply. Though we were not ready to part, we are forever grateful for the love, laughter, and the generous, thoughtful presence he shared so freely.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Beloved husband of late Margorie “Marge” Bacastow, cherished wife of 59 years. He is survived by his three children, Michael, Jennifer, and Suzanne; and four grandchildren, Allyson, Blake, Olivia, and Nathan; and one great-grandson, Noah.

Don honorably served the United States Navy. His Navy ballcap was a familiar sight wherever he went. He carried deep pride for his service on the USS Hermitage, always eager to share his stories.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures – scenic bicycle rides, science fiction novels, and cheering on the Baltimore Orioles. You could always find him at his desk monitoring the stock market. But above all, he treasured time with his family, and embraced his role as “PopPop,” cherishing every moment with his grandkids.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, MD. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jean Lee officiating.

The family asks that you consider donating to the Dementia Society of America, https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate in memory of Don.
