Donald Benjamin Meyers, Sr., 88, of Baltimore, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022, in Westminster, Maryland.
Donald Benjamin Meyers, Sr. was born in Baltimore to Benjamin and Emma Meyers on October 12, 1933. He joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and later married Margaret Irene Slusser on October 1, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas. He worked as an aircraft technician for the United States Air Force and later for the Maryland Air National Guard for 36 years. He was also a career firefighter and worked for the Baltimore County Fire Department for 20 years. He was involved in Grace Lutheran Church of Westminster, Boumi Shriners as a member of the Legion of Honor, Drum Corps and Shrine Clowns, Freedom Lodge A.F.A.M. #112 and later Washington Masonic Lodge A.F.A.M. #3, and American Legion Post #31. Above all he was devoted to his wife of 66 years, his three children, and dedicated his work and volunteer time to serving his country, community, and others in need.
Donald Benjamin Meyers, Sr. is preceded in death by his father Benjamin Meyers, mother Emma Meyers, sister Laverne Robinson, brother Wade O. Smith, Jr., and brother Russell C. Meyers.
Donald Benjamin Meyers, Sr. is survived by his wife Margaret I. Meyers of 66 years, son Donald B. Meyers, Jr. and his wife Beth I. Meyers, daughter Gwendolyn I. Vollmer and her husband John F. Vollmer, Sr., and son Michael P. Meyers and his wife Michelle L. Meyers; grandchildren John F. Vollmer, Jr., Donald B. Meyers, III, Rebecca I. Comegna, Christopher T. Meyers, Meredith L. Meyers, Kimberly F. Fairbank, and great grandchildren Luca D. Comegna, Adelaide L. Vollmer, Paisley H. Meyers, August B. Comegna, and Donald B. Meyers, IV, and his sister Audrey Rew.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13th, 2022 at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster MD 21157 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll Street, Westminster MD 21157. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Eldersburg, MD.
