Donna R. Horoschak, 71 years old, of Silver Spring, Maryland, died November 7, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born October 17, 1953, in Elmer, New Jersey, to parents Audrey M. (Wegner) Horoschak and John J. Horoschak, both of whom pre-deceased her. She was also predeceased by brother John. B. Horoschak. She is survived by sister Karen Horoschak of New Mexico, as well sister Linda Holmes and brother-law, John Holmes, both of Westminster, Maryland. Also surviving her are nephews Christopher Holmes and Phillip Holmes; nieces Meredith Peebles, and Emily (Holmes) Craig; as well as Emily’s husband, Shane Craig. In addition, her uncle Curt Houghton and cousins Diane Houghton and Valerie Houghton survive her.

Donna attended Southern Illinois University. She obtained a law degree at the University of Wisconsin. She embarked on a decades-long legal career, beginning with the Wausau Insurance Company of Wausau, Wisconsin. Later, she moved to the Washington, D.C. area representing insurance trade groups. She ended her career as a Senior Vice President of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) for policy and regulatory affairs. She retired from AHIP in 2017.

In Wisconsin, Donna lived on Lake Wausau and enjoyed boating and winter sports. She took up curling and became an avid player. Her curling team competed for a spot on the exhibition team for the Olympics. She was also a Green Bay Packers fan and was proud of converting her nephews into life-long, die-hard Packers fans. After moving to Maryland, she enjoyed annual trips to New York for theater outings with friends from Wisconsin. Donna loved to cook and was known for her extensive knowledge of culinary matters. Donna had a lively, vivacious personality and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A service for Donna will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster, Maryland. There will be visitation beginning 10 am with the service immediately after. Donna was a strong supporter of Doctors Without Borders. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to that organization or other charity of your choice.
