Dora Jean Sabo, 89, of Westminster, died Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born July 9, 1935 in Mann, WV, she was the daughter of the late Reeble and Lacey Merritt. She was the loving wife of the late John Sabo.
She retired after working 30 years for Western Maryland College in telecommunications. She was a former member of Glyndon United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Dora enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by children Cindy Lowry (David) of Westminster; Sally Lang (Douglas) of Columbia, MD; and Michael Sabo (Michelle) of Westminster; sister Dinah Childers of Florida; grandchildren Kate Lowry, Cpt. William Lowry (Brittany), Emma Leonard (partner William Henderson), Hannah Pizano (Antonio), John Lang, Alex, Justin and Jack Sabo, great-grandchildren Jensen Leonard, Kayleigh Henderson and Payton Pizano.
She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Private entombment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
