Doris M Dobson

Doris M. Dobson, 87, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Westminster, MD died peacefully March 28, 2023 in Ft. Myers, FL.

Born November 4, 1935 in Carroll County, MD she was the daughter of the late Stanley L. and R. May (Long) Gesell. She was the wife of the late Weldon E. Dobson, her husband of 66 years.

Doris was a 1953 graduate of Westminster High School. She married Weldon in 1955 and when their children were young, she was very active in the PTA. She and Weldon enjoyed traveling the world with his job and their children frequently went with them. She then went on to own and operate The Yarn Basket in Westminster because of her love of needlework, especially crocheting, knitting and counted cross stitch. She crocheted hundreds of sweaters for children donating them to charities. Upon their retirement they moved to Cape Coral and continued to travel extensively. She and Weldon enjoyed Southern Gospel Music, attending concerts and took several related cruises.

Surviving are children and spouses Martha A and Richard Wade of Cape Coral, FL, David W and Angie Dobson of Bellevue, OH and Ruth E and Robert Gorsuch of Cape Coral, FL, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Southwest Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL, with Pastor Robert Kasten officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at Krider’s Lutheran Cemetery in Westminster, MD on May 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
