Douglas Eugene Muller Obituary

Douglas Eugene Muller, 56, of Westminster, died Monday, September 2, 2024, at his home with his loving sisters holding his hands.  Born October 28, 1967, he was the son of the late David Willie Muller and Sidney May Ferris Muller.

Doug was a carpenter by trade and worked in home construction for the family business of Muller Construction Co., Inc.  He most recently worked at The Home Depot in Eldersburg in the lumber area. For several years, he and his father were the mowing caretakers of the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Doug continuing this work after his father passed. He graduated from South Carroll High School in 1985.

Doug enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.  He enjoyed fishing with his Pappy Muller as a child. He loved working with and racing RC cars before his illness.  He liked building things and sometimes you never knew what might change in the house because he decided something needed to be improved. He also enjoyed watching the birds feeding from the feeders he built in the backyard. Going out to eat on Monday nights for Classico Pizza with Sandy & David and going to Plum Crazy Diner on Fridays with Carolyn, Mike, Patti & Harlan were weekly outings he greatly looked forward to especially as his illness progressed.

Doug is survived by his sisters, Sandra L. Miller and husband David, and Carolyn I. Hoff and husband R. Michael, all of Westminster; aunts/uncles Linda & Rick Eby of New Oxford, PA; Ed & Jean Ferris of Littlestown, PA; and aunt Barbara Muller of South Carolina.  He is also survived by many cousins.

He was pre-deceased by grandparents Francis Muller, Myrle Muller, Louise Muller, Helen Ferris and Clarence Ferris; aunts and uncles Emerson (Buck) & Arlene Muller, Carrie and Buddy Poole, and uncle Glenn Muller.

The family sends a special thank you to Taylor Shoffner, PA, Dr. Erika Feller and Dr. Sara Loeffler for the care and compassion they shared with Doug in treating his medical needs.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Because the care of the Salem Cemetery meant so much to Doug, a graveside service will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Salem Bottom Rd. with Rev. Dahl Drenning and Rev. Melissa Helfer officiating. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s name to the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, c/o Bruce Muller, 4020 Middleburg Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791 or Bridging Life, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
