Edith Glen Mae Quesenberry, age 87, passed in the comfort of her daughters’ home on July 24, 2020 surrounded by family and friends.
Born on January, 25, 1933, she was the daughter of late Minnie Belle Delawder(nee May) and Cass Bianca Delawder. She was an 11th generation descendant of the Mayflower through her maternal grandmother. Edith Quesenberry was the youngest of seven children.
Edith Quesenberry was raised in Lost River, Hardy County, West Virginia by her maternal grandmother Lydia Ann May (nee Dove) and step-grandfather Arnos Walker. As an adolescent she moved to Ellicott City, Maryland.
In her 20’s, Edith worked at the Forest Diner. Edith retired from the State of Maryland after much devotion as a dietary aid for Henryton State Hospital, Maryland Board of Education, Springfield Hospital, and various assisted livings throughout Howard County.
After retirement, Edith moved to Great Cacapon, West Virginia.
Edith is survived by her husband of 46 years, Lowell Quesenberry; her brother, William “Bill” Delawder, her biological children; Ivy Smink (nee Newman)married to Glen Smink, Carol Newman, David Newman, and Tammy Winn (nee Quesenberry) married to David “Scott” Winn; her step-children, Richard Quesenberry and David Quesenberry; her biological grandchildren, Daniel, Frank, Ann, Dianna, Kristie, Brian, Ashley and Christopher; her step-grandchildren, Kim, Ronald, Angel, Richard, Carrie, Crystal, Samuel, Kayla, David, Jacob, Stephen; as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Edith was predeceased by the her first husband, Albert Newman; her sister, Cleta Winstead (nee Delawder); her brothers, Doston, Laymon, Ira, and Joseph; her biological son, Albert “Frank” Newman; and her step-daughter, Peggy Roman (nee Quesenberry).
The family will receive all friends on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, Maryland., proceeding directly after with a Christian service. Interment will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Sermon on the Mount, 2150 Mount View Rd, Marriottsville, Maryland. A celebration of life will follow the interment at Carol Newman’s, 1903 Welsh Court, Finksburg, Maryland.
