Frances "Bea" Beatrice Wolf Obituary
Frances Beatrice Hoffman Wolf, known as Bea, of Carroll County, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Lorien in Taneytown at the age of 95.
Bea was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Hoffman. She was born and raised in Westminster, Maryland along with her late older sister, Mary Groft Allen, and her late older brother, Frank Hoffman. Bea and her late sister-in-law, Arlene Hoffman was very close. She had felt as though Arlene was her dearest friend.
Bea lived in Westminster her entire life, and was very proud of her hometown. She enjoyed reminiscing about how Westminster used to be when she was a child and young adult.
Working for various businesses in the town of Westminster, Bea ended her 24 year long career at Telemecanique Inc., where she retired in 1991. Bea was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church where she also attended grammar school through high school. She served the church in different capacities most of her adult life. She volunteered for years at the Dept. of Aging supporting those with Alzheimer’s disease. Helping others came easily to her as she had great compassion.
It seemed as though Bea knew everyone in the town of Westminster. She had many dear friends who she spoke to often. She appreciated her long-standing friendship with Annette McFadden. Annette and Bea spoke on the phone most weeks and Annette and her husband often helped her transportation when driving was no longer an option for Bea. She has many other friends and neighbors who showed her special kindness throughout the years.
The Crowl family, in Bea’s eyes, was part of her extended family. The Crowls included her during the holidays as they had many memorable family dinners together.
She is survived by her niece, Betty Christensen, nephew David Groft, devoted nephew Ronnie Hoffman who visited her every week without exception. Ronnie made sure his Aunt Bea was well taken care of over the years. She appreciated his thoughtfulness and love and his delicious home-cooked meals. Also survived by devoted caregiver Shelly Caltrider and husband Barry.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Prayer services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Healthcare Ministries, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or St. John’s Catholic Church.
