Georgia Elaine Myers, nee Zepp, 70, of Westminster, MD passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 17, 2023. She was born on October 19, 1952 in Hanover, PA to the late Dorothy Louise Close and George Wilbur Zepp. Georgia was the devoted wife of John Michael “Mike” Robbins.
She graduated from Westminster High School in 1970 and then began a 42 year career with the Social Security Administration rising from a typist in the typing pool to serving in an executive position as SSA’s Regulation Officer. Her passion was organizing and volunteering to help others. She dedicated her life to serving her family and the community.
Georgia is survived her husband, by sons Russell W. Myers, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Orrtanna, PA, and Christopher R. Myers and his wife Kelley of Westminster, stepsons John R. “Jay” Robbins and his wife Maria and David E. Robbins of Kensington and his wife Christina of Glyndon. Additionally she is survived by her grandchildren Jacob C. Myers of Westminster, Danielle N. Myers of Mechanicsburg, PA, JEB Stuart N. Myers of Hanover, PA, her brothers and sisters Marjory “Margie” D. Zepp Dellospedale, Edward M. Zepp and wife Marie, Larry A. Bloom and wife Wendy, along with half-siblings Dean Zepp, Donna Zepp Somers, and David Zepp. Georgia enjoyed a large extended family being related to the Close, Zepp, Bloom, Bauerlein, Gessell, Will, and Gross families and she married into the Myers and Robbins families in Carroll County. Family would often kid her about being related to everyone in the county.
In addition to her parents Georgia was predeceased by stepfathers Richard Lee Bloom, Sr., Donald Albert Gross, brothers Richard Lee Bloom, Jr., and Russell Wayne Bloom, Sr.
Georgia always wore the glow of a smile and a kind heart for everyone, but her driving passion was volunteerism. Her service included works with the Boys Scouts of America (District Chair/Comm.; Silver Beaver; Wood Badge), American Legion Auxiliary, Carroll Unit 31 (Western MD District President 2021-2023), Order of the Eastern Star, Door to Virtue #94 (Worthy Matron 2010-12), the National Association of Disability Examiners (Regional President), the Social Order of the Beauceant #245 (Carroll Assembly President, Supreme Assembly 2010, 2015), American Rhododendron Society (Secretary, Membership Chair), and WHS Class of 1970 reunion committee (Treasurer). Georgia was also a member of Molleville Farm VFW Auxiliary Unit 467 in Westminster.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E Main St., Westminster, MD 21157. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Ceremony at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at John Luther Miller Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her memory to any of the many volunteer organizations Georgia served with during her lifetime.
