Harold Jesse Robertson, 90, of Smallwood, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his home. Born May 14, 1932 in Littlestown, PA, he was the son of the late Grace (Pickett) Robertson and Edgar J. Robertson. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Annette Robertson.
He retired as a Major after serving 20 years in the United States Army. He earned a bronze star while serving in the Army. He graduated from the University of Maryland and was a life-long member of Deer Park United Methodist Church, where he served as cemetery president.
Harold traveled to more than twenty five countries and all 3,076 county seats in the United States. In 2018, he received the Carroll County Philanthropist of the Year Award for countless hours over more than 45 years serving on volunteer boards of three cemeteries where his accomplishments, among other things, included documenting more than 5,000 grave sites in Carroll County.
Additionally, he is survived by son Bruce Robertson and spouse Leni of Eugene, OR; step-son Wesley McCormick and wife Priscilla of Cape Cod, MA; brothers Raymond, Jonnie and Allen Robertson, sisters Charlotte Calhoun and Alice Hawkins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine S. Robertson who died February 9, 2009, brothers James “Jim”, David “Dave” and Vernon Robertson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster and Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Rd., Westminster, MD 21157. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with his Pastor, Rev. John Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Deer Park Cemetery.
