Harriett Zumbrun Obituary

Harriett “Elsie” Singer Zumbrun, 94, of Westminster, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Sunflower Hill Assisted Living.  Born January 4, 1927 in Hampstead, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Singer and Mazie Lucinda Weaver Singer.

Elsie retired from C&P Telephone Co. after nearly 40 years of service.  She once transferred a call to Camp David.  She had many stories to tell from her years as a switchboard operator.  Mom was artistic and creative and had a green thumb.  She always put others first and was generous with her time and gave freely to others.  She was loyal and her family was very important to her.  She was a life member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She was the beloved mother of Donald M. Graf, Jr. and wife Lynn and M. Roxane Brewer and husband Dean; loving grandmother (MomMom) to Jessica L. Johnson and husband Robbie, Scott E. Graf, Selena B. Mowery and husband Andrew, Erin N. Graf, Kirsten L. Allen and husband Daniel and Benjamin G. Brewer and wife Ashley; great-grandmother to Tyler Manahan, Victoria Manahan, MacKenzie Graf, Garrett Graf, Grayson Allen, Nora Elsie Allen and Genevieve Brewer; her sister Nora Lee Armacost; sister-in-law Genevieve Singer and numerous nieces and nephews.  One of 13 children she was predeceased by 11 siblings.

The family is very appreciative of the care mom received at Sunflower Hill during this challenging year.

Due to the current pandemic, funeral services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wesley United Methodist Church, 3239 Carrollton Road, Hampstead, MD 21074.
