Howard M. Otto, 103, of Westminster, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Lorien in Taneytown. Born January 5, 1915 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Samuel Otto and Lillie Fritz Otto. His wife of 73 years, Mina G. Otto died June 15, 2017.
Before retiring he worked at Westminster Knit for 55 years. He served in the Army during WWII with Company H 109 Infantry 29 Division. He was a member of the American Legion Carroll Post #31 and the Hanover Moose. He was a Charter Member of the Church of the Open Door.
Survived by a nephew George Otto, II, nieces Barbara Devilbiss and Patsy Harris, devoted friends Norman and Sandy Miller. He was also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, with his pastors Dr. Norris E. Belcher, Jr., Dr. John Campbell and Dr. Ray Schutt officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Open Door or the American Legion Carroll Post #31, 2 Sycamore St., Westminster, MD 21157.
