Howard James Link, 85, of Westminster, Maryland, died Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the BridgingLife Dove House. Known to many as “Pete”, he was born July 27, 1939, in Spangler, Pennsylvania. He was the second son of the late Albert James Link and Hilda Marie (Anna) Link and brother to the late Merle Albert Link, all of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Carol Link. He was devoted to his family which included their three children, Joyce Danzig (Neil) of Columbia, Maryland, Nancy Merrill (Brent) of Westminster, and Thomas Link (Diane) of Littlestown, Pennsylvania. He cherished their six grandchildren, Lauren Danzig (Bryan), Christopher Link (Nikki), Aaron Danzig, Evan Merrill (Colleen), Cara Link (Kyle) and Greg Merrill (Cameron), and their three great grandchildren, Landon, Sophie and Aubrey.

After graduating from high school, he joined AT&T as a lineman and went on to enjoy a 43-year career with the company before retiring in 1999. As a master electrician, he did many, many “wiring jobs” over the years for friends and family. He also spent a few years operating a small engine repair business.

Howard dedicated more than 60 years to active service to the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company in a variety of elected and appointed positions, most notably as Fire Chief, Fire Officer, Board Member, and maybe most notably, as the electrician for the annual fireman’s carnival and a reliable volunteer at many fundraising events. He was inducted into the Carroll County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame in 1999 and received the Firefighter of the Year Award from Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company in 2017.

A person of quiet and deep faith in God, he was a member of and regular worshipper at the 7:00 A.M. Sunday mass at St. John Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 4-7 P.M.at Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Department, 1745 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, Md 21157.
