James Luther Menchey, Jr.

James Luther Menchey, Jr., 90, of Westminster, died Monday, February 22, 2021 at home.  Born May 17, 1930 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Grace V. (Koontz) Menchey and James L. Menchey, Sr.  He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Phyllis Lee Menchey.

He started J.L. Menchey Builders in 1964. He was a life-time member of St. John (Leister’s) Church, the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467, Moose Lodge No. 1381 and North Carroll Rod and Gun Club.  He was a veteran of the Army.

Besides his wife he is survived by son Ronald Menchey, Sr. and wife Denise, daughter Dawn Nauman and husband Steve, all of Westminster, 5 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by 2 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Leister’s Church Cemetery.
