James “Jim” Richard Cox, 89, of Westminster died Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Dove House. Born June 29, 1932 in Brunswick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Walter F. Cox and Elizabeth Virginia Anderson Cox.
Before retiring he worked as a Brakeman for the B&O Railroad. He also worked as a Police Communications Officer with the Maryland State Police. He served in the Army-Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 116 in Reisterstown, Life Member of the Moose Lodge in Reisterstown, member of the VFW Post 521 in Owings Mills. He enjoyed shooting pool, horse racing and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan..
Survived by his children Tony L. Hendrickson and wife Anne of Fredericksburg, VA and Mary Lou Hendrickson of Superior, NE; brother-in-law Walter R. Bowman of Gore, VA and nephew Jami Bowman of Fredericksburg, VA.
He was predeceased by his brother Walter Cox, sister-in-law Sandy Cox and niece Diane Cox.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
